FAQ
What age is it for?
Little Hands is designed for toddlers from around 3 years and because it's built around real tasks rather than one fixed activity, it grows with your child for years — from first supervised pours to a confident, independent little cook.
If you're unsure whether it suits your child's stage, email us at hello@littlehands.com.au and we'll happily help.
How big is it? Will it fit my space?
The kitchen measures [width × depth × height], with the benchtop set at [height] — a height chosen so little ones can work comfortably and safely. It takes up about [footprint] of floor space. If you'd like to check it against your room before buying, just ask and we'll talk it through.
What's included?
Every kitchen arrives with the kitchen & sink cover, two water jugs, colander, tools and instructions. The kitchen mat and the glass-and-steel dining set are available separately. Check out our bundle offer to get the full system.
Is the water safe?
Yes, completely.
The kitchen uses two jugs that sit under the sink: one you fill with clean tap water, the other stays empty to collect what's used. There's no plumbing and no recycled water — just fresh water in, used water out.
We recommend emptying and refilling them weekly, or sooner if they look grubby.
Is the real glass dining set safe for a toddler?
Yes — and the fact that it's real is the point. Children learn to handle real, breakable things with genuine care, which plastic can never teach. Like any real glassware it can break if dropped, so the dining set is made for supervised use alongside you, and we recommend it for children aged 3 or older. Used this way, it builds responsibility and confidence — the quiet pride of being trusted with something real.
What is it made from, and is it non-toxic?
Materials we'd choose for our own kitchen. The sink is food-grade stainless steel, and every cup and utensil in the dining set is BPA- and BPS-free. The kitchen is independently tested to meet Australia and New Zealand's toy-safety standards — AS/NZS ISO 8124.1, 8124.1.2 and 8124.1.3 (covering physical safety, flammability, and harmful elements like lead), with the water system meeting AS/NZS 62115 for electrical safety.
Will my toddler make a mess?
A little — and that's part of the point.
Toddlers learn by exploring, so some spills are simply part of how they grow. We suggest showing your child where they're free to "practise" and what the boundaries are, which gives them real independence while keeping the mess manageable. And the play mat is designed to catch most of it.
In our experience the novelty settles after a couple of weeks, and that's when the real learning begins.
How do I clean it?
Simply wipe the sink and benchtop with a damp cloth. It's a lovely thing to do with your child, too — showing them how to care for their own space is part of the independence they're building.
The splashback is acrylic, so use a soft microfibre cloth and a light touch to keep it free of scratches.
How much water does it hold, and how often do I refill it?
Each jug holds about 5 litres — plenty for lots of pouring and washing before a top-up. We recommend emptying and refilling weekly, or sooner if the water looks grubby. With no plumbing involved, it's as simple as lifting the jugs out, emptying, and refilling.
Is it easy to assemble?
Yes.
The kitchen arrives flat-packed with clear instructions and all the tools you'll need, and most families have it together in one to two hours. No plumbing or electrician required. If you'd prefer to follow a video, just email us at hello@littlehands.com.au and we'll send one over. And to keep little hands busy while you build, the box includes a few puzzles.
How does shipping work?
We ship right across Australia. Orders are dispatched within [insert dispatch time] and usually arrive within [insert delivery window], depending on where you are. Shipping is [free over $X / a flat rate of $X / calculated at checkout], and you'll receive tracking as soon as it's on its way. We currently ship within Australia only. Is it built to last?
Yes. The kitchen was refined through dozens of revisions and built from materials chosen to last — from first pour to confident little cook. It's made to be handed down, not thrown away. We back it with a 12-month warranty against manufacturing faults.
What is your return policy?
We know a kitchen like this isn't right for every family. That's why it's fully refundable within 30 days of purchase — no fuss. Just get in touch with our team at hello@littlehands.com.au and we'll take care of it.
