Privacy policy
Little Hands is a small Australian business, and we treat your information the way we would want ours treated. We collect as little as we can, we do not sell it, and we will always tell you what we hold if you ask.
This policy explains what we collect, why, and what you can do about it. It applies to littlehands.com.au and to anything you send us by email.
We handle personal information in line with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles.
Who we are
Little Hands is operated by Leather Couch Pty Ltd, ABN 18 623 032 342, Western Australia.
Contact: hello@littlehands.com.au
What we collect
When you place an order: your name, email address, delivery and billing address, phone number, order contents, and any note you leave us.
When you pay: we do not see or store your full card number. Payments are processed by our payment providers, who handle card data directly. We receive only a confirmation and the last digits of the card.
When you contact us: whatever you choose to tell us in your message, plus your name and email so we can reply.
When you subscribe: your email address, and your name if you give it.
When you leave a review: your name as you enter it, your review, your rating, and any photos you upload.
When you simply visit: standard technical information such as your IP address, browser and device type, the pages you viewed, and how you arrived. This is collected through cookies and similar technologies.
We do not collect sensitive information, and we do not ask about your children.
Why we collect it
To take payment, pack your order and get it to you.
To keep you updated on your order and handle returns and warranty claims.
To answer your questions.
To send you email updates, if you have asked for them.
To understand which parts of the site are useful and fix the parts that are not.
To meet our obligations for tax, consumer law and product safety records.
We do not use your information to make automated decisions about you.
Who we share it with
We share information only with the service providers we need to run the business, and only what they need to do their job:
Shopify β our online store platform, which hosts the site and processes orders on our behalf.
Payment providers β to process your payment securely.
Delivery carriers β your name, address and phone number, so they can deliver your parcel and contact you about it.
Judge.me β our reviews platform, which sends review invitations and publishes reviews.
Email and messaging tools β to send order notifications and, if you have subscribed, email updates.
hCaptcha β to stop automated abuse of our forms.
Analytics and advertising platforms β to measure how the site performs and, where we advertise, to reach people likely to be interested. You can opt out of this in the cookie banner.
Our accountant, and professional advisers β where needed, under confidentiality.
We may also disclose information where the law requires it, or to protect someone's safety.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not rent or trade our customer list.
Information held overseas
Some of our providers, including Shopify, store data on servers outside Australia, including in the United States, Canada and the European Union. By using the site and placing an order, you agree to your information being handled in those locations. We choose established providers with their own privacy and security obligations, but we cannot control overseas laws.
Cookies
Cookies are small files stored by your browser. We use them to:
keep your cart working and remember what is in it,
keep you signed in if you have an account,
understand how the site is used,
measure and, where we advertise, target our advertising.
The first two are necessary for the site to function. You can decline the rest in our cookie banner, and you can clear or block cookies in your browser settings. Blocking the necessary ones will break checkout.
How long we keep it
We keep order and transaction records for at least 7 years, because tax law requires it. We keep warranty records for the life of the warranty plus a reasonable period. Email subscribers are kept until you unsubscribe. Enquiry emails are kept while they are useful and then deleted.
How we protect it
The site runs over an encrypted connection. Access to customer data is limited to the two of us and the providers listed above. We use strong, unique passwords and multi-factor authentication on our store and email accounts. No system is perfect, but if a data breach ever occurred that was likely to cause you serious harm, we would notify you and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner as the law requires.
Email updates
We only email you updates if you have asked us to, and every one of those emails has an unsubscribe link that works immediately. Order confirmations, dispatch notices and warranty correspondence are not marketing and will still be sent.
Your choices and your rights
You can ask us to:
tell you what personal information we hold about you,
give you a copy of it,
correct it if it is wrong,
delete it, where we are not required to keep it,
stop sending you marketing.
Email hello@littlehands.com.au and we will respond within 30 days. There is no charge. We may need to verify who you are first.
Children
Our products are for children, but our store is for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a child has given us their information, tell us and we will delete it.
Complaints
If you think we have mishandled your information, please tell us first at hello@littlehands.com.au. We will investigate and respond in writing within 30 days.
If you are not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au or 1300 363 992.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy we will update the date below. If the change is significant and affects you, we will tell subscribers by email rather than quietly editing the page.
