How the water works
Fill the clean tank with up to 5 L of tap water and slide it in. The tap has two settings: one pours a 500 mL serve, the other runs for up to 1 minute, then switches itself off. Used water drains into a separate 5 L tank and never goes back to the tap. Both tanks are the same size, so if you only use water from the kitchen, the used tank can't overflow. Don't fill past 5 L, and empty and rinse both tanks at least weekly.

Assembly, charging & care
- Assembly: about 90 minutes with just a screwdriver. No power tools needed.
- Charging: rechargeable lithium battery, charged by USB-C. Use any USB wall adaptor or a power bank. Don't use the tap while it's charging.
- Care: wipe pooled water with a damp cloth and keep the sink drain clear.
- Safety: adult supervision recommended.

- Damaged on arrival: photograph the box and contents and contact us within 48 hours. We'll repair or replace it at no cost.
- Change of mind: 30-day returns. Delivery fees aren't refunded and return freight is at your cost.

Four years is not very long. We did not want parents to spend it saying ‘wait, in a minute’.
Around 3, the question starts — can I help? By 7 or 8, helping is something you have to ask for. There is no second window.
Children who help prepare a meal test better on working memory and inhibition. That work happens at a bench they can't reach, so we built them one they can.

15 minutes at their kitchen together, across a year. Not extra time you have to find after your busy day — time you were already spending in the same room.
Dinner has to happen anyway. One small change — a bench at their height — turns a chore you get through into a memory you share, and a routine they start looking forward to.
Simple maths, not a study: 15 minutes × 365 — and it won't be every night. Being in the room is not the same as being present: McDaniel & Radesky, Child Development, 2018.

Caught in the moment, it's a lesson. Left for a month, it's just how they do it — and then it has to be unlearned.
So we built the correction into the bench. Tilt the glass and the water goes over the side. Lean in and the mirror shows them their own hands. They fix it before anyone tells them to.

Questions parents ask
Is the water really clean?
Yes. Clean and used water sit in separate tanks, so the tap only ever pours fresh water from the clean tank. Fill it with tap water and it's as clean as your tap.
Will it fit in my kitchen?
It's 67 cm wide, 33 cm deep and 87 cm tall, with a 53 cm bench. At 87 cm it slides under a standard 90 cm island bench, or sits in a kitchen corner so your toddler can work beside you.
Will it make a mess?
A little at first, and that's part of learning. The tanks match in size, so the sink can't overflow. Our non-slip absorbent mat catches the splashes.
What age is it for?
The Little Kitchen is designed and safety tested for children aged 3 and up, and it's sized to grow with them through the preschool years. Younger siblings often love to watch and join in, but they should only use it with an adult right beside them.
Does it need plumbing or installation?
No. The tap is rechargeable and the water lives in removable tanks. Assemble it, fill it, and it's ready to go.
How safe is it?
It's built for toddlers, with adult supervision. The more you model using it, the more independently they'll use it.
